I have been writing software for over 25 years. My entire career has been spent building complex systems, figuring out why they break down, and optimizing them to run smoothly for years to come. Recently, I realized I needed to apply that exact same engineering mindset to my own biology.

Running Old Code in a Modern World

The human body is an incredibly resilient machine, but it is running on legacy programming. We were built to thrive in an environment where food was scarce and we had to move constantly just to stay alive. Today, that old code does not map well to our modern lives of sitting, stress and highly processed foods, leading to systemic crashes like metabolic dysfunction and chronic fatigue.

The Goal: Durability Over Aesthetics

I created HealthRefactor to share my personal research into metabolic health and longevity. The internet is full of confusing, conflicting medical advice. I want to cut through the noise and go deep into the actual science behind different health habits so we can understand the mechanisms of why things work. Its 2026 – of course I use AI tools to help craft these deep dives.

Here is the core rule of this site: Any goal related to losing weight, building muscle, or short-term athletic performance must always take a back seat to long-term health and durability.

I am excited to share the evidence-based protocols I am learning.
